I am a householder which is the word I’ve latched onto to represent the whole of my way of life. In parts I am an organic gardener, home-maker, food preservation activist, lay economist, community member, mother, lover and friend. My values are drawn from the natural world in accordance to its limits and needs. I live by and in partnership with the seasons. My practice includes frugality, simplicity, abundance, hope and a whole lot of hard work. I am both urban and rural, living in my home in Portland, Oregon and, as time permits, on a co-operative farm in Sherwood, Oregon. For the next year I will attempt to put all my householding food skills towards living within the USDA’s Thrifty Food Plan and write about the experience on my blog.
For those that have read my book, here is a bio update.
